Hello dear book lovers,

Kurdish Cultural Center of Illinois is delighted to organize “Chicago Kurdish Book Club” from January to May 2025. Our goal is to make long Chicago’s winter more enjoyable and productive. We will be reading 5 books about Kurds & Kurdistan and Chicago. Everyone is welcome to join the book club, the only requirement is that attendee needs to read the book prior to the gathering and attendees are welcome bring their favorite snacks. 1) My Father’s Rifle: A Childhood in Kurdistan by Hiner Saleem, 2004. Genre: Biography, Autobiography. (Sunday, January 12, 2025, at 3:00 pm).

2) The Devil’s in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson, 2003. Genre: True Crime, Biography. (Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00pm).

3) Women’s Voices from Kurdistan – A Selection of Kurdish Poetry by (editors): Farangis Ghaderi, Clémence Scalbert Yücel, and Yaser Hasssan Ali, 2021. Genre: Poetry. (Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 5:00pm).

4) The Last Pomegranate Tree by Bachtyar Ali, 2023. Genre: Historical Fction, Political Fiction. (Saturday, April 12, 2025, 3:00pm).

5) Kurdistan + 100: Stories from a Future State by (editors): Orsola Casagrande, Mustafa Gündoğdu, 2023. Genre Science Fiction, Political Fiction. (Saturday, May 10 2025 at 5:00pm).
