Director Biography – Saman Hosseinpuor, Ako Zandkarimi

Saman Hosseinpuor was born in Saqez, Kurdistan, Iran, in 1993. He began acting in theater at the age of 14 and started filmmaking in 2008. During this time, he also began writing short stories. Saman is a director and writer living in Iran, holding a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Cinema. He has received over 50 awards from international film festivals for his films and has made 11 short films.

Ako Zandkarimi was born in Sanandaj, Kurdistan, Iran, in 1993. He began filmmaking at the age of 15 while still in high school, marking the start of his passion for cinema. Ako holds a Bachelor’s degree in Cinema and has also received over 50 awards from international film festivals for his films.

Director Statement

Kurdish people have always faced struggles in their lives, particularly refugees and immigrants who endure difficulties to live as citizens while trying to integrate into society. We portray a Kurdish refugee living in another country who lost his family during migration. This is a true story!
